A Safe Place to Pause and Begin
FREE opened its first small drop-in centre in 2014 with the help of its supporters. The centre offers women a welcoming place where urgent practical needs can become the beginning of a trusted relationship.
At the centre, women can:
- Take a shower and access basic hygiene facilities
- Receive clothes for themselves and their children
- Participate in support groups and Bible study
- Take part in creative and handmade activities
- Receive counselling and social assistance
- Be connected with medical, educational or employment support when available
Someone to Walk Beside You, Long Term
Everyone needs someone who will listen without judgement. Mentors offer encouragement, peer support and a consistent relationship as women share their experiences, current struggles and hopes for the future.
Professional counselling and case support can help women address trauma, rebuild confidence and make informed choices.
Practical Steps Towards a Life of Independence
When appropriate, FREE helps women connect with education, employment, medical care, legal support and independent living opportunities. Residential support is presented separately under Casa Talita.
